Hi Vivek,

Basically Hyperterminal is a test done to check
whether there is any trouble with the modem &
telephone line.

About 90 % of the results of hyperterminal are
basically the problem with Modem and only 10 % with
the Telephone Line.

If it gets No carrier - there can be problem with the
modem.

Modem : - Drive Date - DD can get expired for people
who use Windows XP,in that driver date should be above
2004.Once it is updated it will solve the probs.

Telephone Line : - Sometimes the gain gets reduced..in
short terms the capacity in the telephone line to
getting connected to the server.

If a blacklisted error is received, advise the user to
contact their vendor.

If a Restricted error is received, advise the user to
contact their vendor,cause some internal setting in
the modem is being blocked and it should be removed.

If the member gets a Log in in the hyperterminal this
means that the person is connected.

i cheak all these things. exclamation yellow mark is
cooming for voice modem in sound card driver , others
sound card driver comonent is ok.
also i cheaked this recording opting. what happends
that, when change it by properties it shows recording
option where microphon box is cheaked, but it is not
staying there-> change to playback box after exit.
also recoding in muldimedia control panel is not
active.

for recording operation by microphone using
als100plus+ sound card chipset.
i try to install its proper driver, but speaker is
working , but microphone not worked.
Also in the control panel-> multimedia, it shows only
play-back is acitivated but not the recording is
activated.

[tech4all] Wireless Networking

What is Wireless Networking?

It is a type of networking technology that allows computers to
communicate with other computers (as well as other wireless-equipped
devices) without using cables. Instead, wireless networking uses
radio signals to receive and transmit data between wireless access
points and wireless network cards operating on the 2.4 GHz frequency
band.

Each wireless device exchanges signals with an Access Point, also
called a Router. Access points, in turn, communicate with other
network devices. An Access Point is typically a piece of hardware,
but solutions are also available that allow a computer with a
wireless card to act as an Access Point.

Setting Up a Home Wireless Network:

First, you will need to choose an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Many ISP's offer a flat rate service while others may charge an
hourly rate. In either case, choose one that makes sense for your
needs. If you currently have a wired connection, you can inquire with
your current ISP, they may provide wireless services as well.

You will need to purchase a wireless 802.11b wireless broadband
router. Most routers will connect to a broadband modem, a 10/100
Ethernet backbone, or wireless network. They typically support a
range of 300 feet indoors and 1,500 feet outdoors. When placing your
router, keep in mind that walls, water pipes, cables or anything that
could produce interference can decrease your range. Try to keep to a
range of around 150 feet. This will create a greater throughput (A
measure of the data transfer rate through a typically complex
communications system or of the data-processing rate in a computer
system).

Now it is time to install the PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect)
card into your desktop computer. Many of the newer laptops come
equipped with mobile technology so the need for additional cards may
not be necessary.

Next, turn off your broadband connection device and your PC. Then
unplug the cable from your broadband device (Ethernet cable) and plug
it into a Local Area Network (LAN) port on the back of the wireless
broadband router. Keep the other end connected to your PC.

You are now ready to connect a second Ethernet cable between your
wired broadband modem's Ethernet port and the wireless broadband
router's Wide Area Network (WAN) port. Once all connections are made,
turn the modem on and wait for the status lights to indicate that
it's communicating with your ISP. Be patient, this may take a few
moments.

Now you can plug in the wireless broadband router. The status lights
will blink as it performs a self diagnostic check (this also may take
a few moments). Once the lights stop blinking, indicating that
everything is working properly, you can turn on your wired PC.

Next, refer to the router's printed quick-start guide, launch your
Web browser, and type in the address indicated in the guide. Follow
the on-screen setup wizard, which should guide you step by step
through the process. It is important to note that the default SSID
(Service Set Identifier) number is often set to 101, so you should
change it to a different number to ensure that your wireless
connection remains secure. Hackers know many of the default SSID's.

By default, encryption is not enabled. Encryption is important,
because hackers equipped with the necessary devices can sniff the
packets transmitted by the wireless network, thereby compromising
your data. Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is a protocol used for
encrypting packets on a wireless network. It uses a 64-bit (or 256-
bit, depending on the vendor) shared key algorithm. Using WEP will
increase the protection on your data, but doing so will reduce the
effective data rates.

[tech4all] uses of photoshop

Most people don't use Photoshop to its fullest capabilities. Here
are just ten uses to which you could put this highly versatile
software.

1. Restoring Old Photographs. Have a look through that old family
photo album - the really old one from up in Grandma's attic. Inside
there are probably a few photos from way back when that haven't stood
the test of time so well. They've got cracks and tears that really
spoil their appearance. Scan them into Photoshop, and then set to
work with the Clone Stamp, Healing Brush, and Patch tools. The
Healing Brush in particular is a great tool for this purpose as it
samples data from one part of the picture and blends it in with
what's already there.

2. Correcting Mistakes. We've all done it: Had an attack of "finger
over the lens syndrome," or got too close with the flash, so our
subjects suffer from "red eye" and look like extras from a horror
movie. Use the crop tool to salvage something usable from your
obscured photo, and the enlarge wizard to blow it up to a reasonable
size. For "red eye" and "pet eye," use the eyedropper tool to sample
color from around the iris, and a brush to paint away the red.

3. Adding Graphics to Videos. It's a little known fact, but many
domestic and professional nonlinear editing systems (especially the
Mac based ones like Avid or Final Cut) enable you to import
Photoshop .psd files directly into the timeline.

4. Creating Text Effects for Print and Web. There's an almost
unlimited amount of things you can do with text in Photoshop. Use
the Type Mask Tools to create picture filled text, then upload the
results to your web page - or print them out for a one of a kind T-
shirt.

5. Turning a Photo Into a Work of Art. Everyone likes to have nice
things to look at. Most of us like to have pictures on the wall, and
something that looks different from what other people have on their
walls is a definite plus. Unless you're blessed with artistic
talent, though, this can be very expensive - until now. Use one of
Photoshop's many Artistic or Brush Stroke filters to turn your photos
into "new masters," then print them out on quality art paper.

6. Designing Web Banners and Buttons. Photoshop comes with a
predefined web banner sized canvas. Photoshop's sister application,
Image Ready, comes with several - and lots of tools for animating
text and pictures. You can also create interactive buttons that
enhance a web browsing experience.

7. Adding Text to Photographs. Impress your boss by putting the
company name on the side of an airliner, building, or racing car.
Use the Move Tool to skew the text to fit the contours of the
picture, adjust the opacity a little, and hey presto! The text will
look like it's always been part of the photo.

8. Combining Pictures, Text, and Graphics to Make Covers for Books,
Reports and CDs. Photoshop contains many of the image manipulation
capabilities of high-end DTP applications that cost thousands. Use
the "Layer via Cut" command to make your title text go behind part of
the picture - just like on the cover of "Rolling Stone."

9. Designing Web Pages. Did you know that Photoshop and Image Ready
can turn your photograph or artwork into a web page? Use the slice
tool to cut your work into easily downloadable pieces, then the
rollover function to embed website URLs.

10. Combining Pictures to Make the Impossible Possible. Come on! You
didn't seriously think that Michael Moore and President George W.
Bush really stood hand in hand on the White House lawn for the
Fahrenheit 9/11 poster, did you? I don't know for certain that they
used Photoshop to fake that picture, but they certainly could have
done. With Photoshop you can remove the background from one picture,
take some elements from another, and combine them with the background
from a third to create a picture that could never have been taken for
real. Who says the camera can't lie!
