hi..
Cross cable is nothing but a altered version of Lan cable...
it's specially for connecting pcs to pcs directly without using hub or switch...
they r not interchangable...
imagine a connection like this...
there are two ports need to be interconnected and the both of them contain an transmitter and receiver....
if they are connected directly without using hub or switch,,,,
then LAN cable will connect Transmitter to Transmitter and Receiver to Receiver...
but for a effect communication to take place...
Transmitter should connect to receiver and vice versa...
hence a Modified version of Lan Cable is available to make this possible... hence it is known as Cross Cable...
note:
Crosscable : direct connection between PCS..
Lan cable : connecting pcs through switch or hub
