It will be quicker to partition the drive first then format it. once this has been done then set your bios to boot from the CD and run it
to find right boot files go to the above link and download the XP boot disk files then copy them to your floppy.

Well Thanks for all your replies.. it turned out to be
a Defect in the Seagate Hardware. Now the BIOS
recognises the 160 GIG SATA HDD with seagate's
signature.
Now I have a new problem I am not able to install WIN
XP. I am trying to run the setup off my CD ROM drive.
The first 3 screens load up properly after that I get
a n error that says "NO HARD Drives found on your
machine"
Any help is highly appreciated
