NTSC is the TV transmission standard used in the states - I think it
is an interlaced mode - 480i.
XviD is the video codec - that is the system used to encode the
compressed video information in the file. XviD is a free alternative
to DIVX and is actually an open source codec. The 1.1.0-B2 is simply a
version number, Version 1, sub-version(or revision) 1.0 the B normally
means Beta - a prerelease version of the Codec that is still in
testing. This version information applies to the encoder use to make
the stream.
The bitrate specifies how deep the compression is, the lower this is,
the smaller your file will be, but also the quality will be lower. If
you like, The bitrate is a measure of trade off between size and
quality.
The audio standard is using what it thinks is MPEG layer 3 - the same
system as every Mp3 on your drive. Again - 130kps specifies the
bitrate for the audio stream, which means exactly the same to the
audio as it does to the video.
The framerate is a measure of how many frames (descrete images used to
make up the steps in a moving image sequence) are being played a
minute.
AVI files are a container or wrapper for video files which can contain
many variations of video and audio codecs. It is quite simply the file
type.
Cheers,
Danny
